Does lightning sometimes ascend to the sky?
Ascending lightnings are an extremely rare phenomenon that sometimes occurs on earth.
It is basically lightnings that instead of coming from the sky, travel the opposite path and ascends to the sky from the earth. It is estimated that less than 1% of lightning strikes that occur on the planet are from ascending lightnings.
They often originate from buildings at least 80 meters high, on the surface of which, during storms, many electric charges build up until they overcome the dielectric strength of the air. The subsequent rebalance of the distribution of charges produces the lightning bolt.
