How strong could a gorilla get if it trained like a bodybuilder?

The muscles of a gorilla’s upper body can exert force up to six times that of a human, and allow them to push up to ten times their body weight.

The current bench press record is 335kg, held by bodybuilder Julius Maddox, who weighs around 205kg.

This means that Julius is able to lift a weight equivalent to 164% of his body weight with one repetition.

If a gorilla of average height weighing 195 kg trained with a regime similar to that of the bodybuilder, his bench press maximum would be approximately 1920 kg. Almost two tons!

The largest gorilla ever recorded weighed about 220 kg. If he also trained like our average gorilla before did, his maximum would be a whopping 2156 kg!

No wonder some Nazi scientists intended to create an army of gorilla-human hybrids, gruesome as the idea may sound. These animals are a bundle of bestial power, for lack of better terms.
