The biggest crocodile to ever live
Machimosaurus rex is the largest crocodile known to have existed.
It belongs to a group of large crocodiles that lived in the seas about 150 million years ago.
It was almost 10 meters long and weighted up to three tons. About twice the size of a modern sea crocodile, and five times bigger than the average human.
It was the apex predator in a vast ocean that, at the time, separated Africa and Europe. His skull and jaws could exert a bite of extraordinary force, capable of shattering the carapaces of large sea turtles.
