What I would change in Avengers: Endgame in order to make the movie even better

1. Let Tony stark save himself

I would have let him find in the spacecraft the Anulax batteries stolen by rocket to return to earth. It is a rumor that I heard before the film came out and I liked the idea both for the reference to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and the first iron man, in which he rescues himself from a desperate situation. Also I would use Captain Marvel later, for point 5.

2. A worthy death for Thanos

Thanks to Nebula, the Avengers knew where Thanos was, they didn’t need to have him destroy the gems with another snap to get his position. I would leave the gems intact, maybe putting some limits on the damaged gauntlet (such as not being able to use more than a few gems at a time without taking lethal damage) to allow Thanos to better defend himself and get an interesting fight instead of a blitz in his hut. Finally Thanos, finding himself in trouble, destroys the gems to prevent his work from being canceled. Thor, pissed off, kills him. It would have been even more traumatic for the Avengers to have their last chance vanish and lose twice.

3. A better treatment for Thor and the Hulk

I would have added a scene where Banner studies a solution to his condition and becomes Professor Hulk, just hearing him say that didn’t satisfy me. I would have avoided making Thor fat and the ridiculous humor that came with it, I would have shown his depression with his addiction to alcohol and his carelessness for beard and hair only. Not that I have something against those who are not fit, but it seemed out of place and childish in a movie like that, also I would have made the other Avengers urge him to cut his beard and hair before the time heist, Thor was definitely cooler with the shorter hair.

4. Changing the pacing and action of the movie

I would have removed/shortened some scenes of the time travel and the stealing of the gems, for example the ones where they test time travel with Ant man or when Barton returns to his family. I would have used the recovered time to lengthen the final battle. Also, in my opinion, there is a lack of action scenes in the central part of the movie, I would have added a big one, which I talk about in the next point.

5. Natasha alive and back to Infinity War

I would have avoided making Natasha or Clint sacrifice. Instead, they would return to the present, after activating each other’s quantum suits in an attempt to save each other from the fall, believing they had made the whole plan fail.

Instead they discover that Captain America has extra Pym particles stolen in the 70’s and that he doesn’t want to sacrifice anyone given how many people they have already lost. Cap then chooses to send to Titan during the events of Infinity war, some of the Avengers who weren’t there (if there were any, Thanos could understand that they are future versions and would become more lethal by sensing their plan). Thor, Captain Marvel, Professor hulk and War machine then go to Titan, they manage to block Thanos and steal the soul gem with the help of the Avengers of that timeline, who also take off his glove and win.

6. Swap the roles of Thor and Hulk

Thor fell into depression mainly because he failed to prevent Thanos snap, so I would let it to him to bring everyone back. He loses his arm in the process, Tony then amps it to avoid even more damage and gets him a temporary one by molding it with his nanotechnology (even in the comics Thor once lost an arm).

The Hulk instead blames himself for “having lost twice” against Thanos. So I would have put a scene to allow him to redeem himself: in the final battle, Wanda disarms and knocks Thanos, who orders to use the rain of fire on the battlefield. In doing so, he kills Black Widow and infuriates Professor Hulk who, also taking advantage of Thanos being deprived of his sword, has an epic hand-to-hand fight against him.

7. Left Nanotech Gauntlet

Having Tony, Hulk and Rocket build a left glove instead of a right one is an almost insignificant edit, which I would have introduced for the simple fact that it would have confirmed a theory that started from the first Iron man, along many films, up to Endgame. The very first MCU scene in which Tony stark appears is that of his left hand:

Throughout the films we can see as a recurring theme that of Tony Stark’s pain in his left arm:

According to some, this would be the premonition of the ending of the infinity saga, that is, that a snap of Iron man’s fingers would have put an end to everything. Too bad Tony Stark uses the gems with his right arm discrediting everything.
