What if the Earth were spinning in the opposite direction?

If the Earth reversed its spin direction now, the enormous change in direction would bring with it gigantic tidal waves and tsunamis, winds of several hundred if not thousands of kilometers per hour, and crazy hurricanes that would wipe out everything on the surface. The only non-negative change would be seeing the sun rise in the west and set in the east. It would probably also cause the extinction of quite a few species.

If, on the other hand, the earth had always rotated in the other direction, the effect on the winds and then on the ocean currents would disrupt the way heat is distributed over the earth. The climate of the entire world would probably be ‘inverted’ with deserts where there are now forests and vice versa.

Europe, Asia and Africa would be much greener because of a new current similar to the current in the Atlantic, which would now be in the Pacific, while South and North America would become mostly desert.

Africa would be almost entirely green, and so would Europe, which would also experience freezing winters, while Brazil and North America would become vast deserts, and Russia would heat up.

Overall, the Earth would be a much greener planet, probably with more oxygen, at levels perhaps too high for our existence.
