Luckily, Wuhan, the Chinese city that became the epicenter of the coronavirus, is banning the consumption and trade of wild animals with a 5-year decree.

In early April 2020, China excluded dogs, pangolins and bats from the list of animals whose meat can be eaten, and prohibited hunting of wild animals. Although exotic animals can still be bred for furs and medicines. The authorities are even offering money to farmers who stop raising them.

Personally I find repulsive and unethical, the consumption, hunting and breeding of exotic animals that are not necessary at all for human sustenance.

Billions of animals are killed all over the world constantly, and limiting ourselves to certain species would be just the bare minimum. And I hope this useless trade, which effectively caused the pandemic and killed over three million people worldwide, will be banned forever, not just for the next 5 years.
